Lynxmark Blog

Welcome to the Lynxmark blog.

Searcy.com - Sold

There have been many changes for LynxMark in 2007, it has been a challenging, entertaining, and successful year to date.  The year started out with the continued excellence in several marketing projects, all while nurturing Searcy.com into a full blown marketing weapon.

One project that stands out in my mind is a marketing piece we put together for a FSBO - "For Sale By Owner" home in Charlotte North Carolina.  The site can still be seen at www.pricemillhome.com. This splash page was designed to provide a way for the busy homeowner to allow prospective buyers to view the house online prior to home tours.  It was not an especially difficult project to design but was incredibly enjoyable helping our client meet their goal.  This homeowner sold their home the first day it was open for tours, so we mark that down as a win in our book.  We hope that other FSBO's will look our way when it comes to marketing their homes, we loved working with the homeowner.

Build a Brand

I ever increasingly encounter small businesses that do not fully understand the importance of developing a brand.  Perhaps this is due to complacency, or in my oppinion it's due to ignorance.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that many small businesses owners are not intelligent, nor am I saying that they should without a doubt understand what I'm about to discuss.  What I am saying is that if small business owners fully understood the magnitude that branding can play in building a business they would likely spend more time working towards building their brand than just throwing away dollars in useless advertising.

She's Alive

I plan on keeping this one short mainly due to the long days the past several weeks with little or no sleep.  Sounds like it wasn't much fun but the truth is we've had an absolute blast developing out the new Searcy.com.

The new Searcy.com, as most of you already know, is a community lifestyle guide for the small but growing city of Searcy, Arkansas.  We've put many man hours into this project and have yet to bring in one dollar of revenue.  Why?....Well it's actually very simple.

When we develop project for our clients or for internal reasons we do our very best to make sure all pieces are in place before we close down the project.  We have advertisers in place and have already begun giving them promotion, but in my mind I would rather wait to run the first month's advertising fees until we know all resources on the site are in place and working without any type of problems.

Changing The Mold

When we first decided to take the domain name www.Searcy.com from one of our prospective clients we realized the value in the domain name, but did not realize fully to what extent this online community would affect the city.  What started as a mere piece of PR for LynxMark has turned into a personal challenge.  The challenge of breaking the mold for how small cities, such as Searcy, Arkansas, use the internet.
